Enzo Maccarinelli Boxing Future Unclear After 1st Round Loss

Enzo Maccarinelli’s professional boxing career looks to be at an end following his 1st round stoppage defeat to Ukranian Dmytro Kucher last night in York Hall.

The Welshman was caught with a huge left hook flush on the chin early on, catching him cold and giving the crusierweight little time to recover.

Kucher pounced on the opportunity to claim the European cruiserweight strap and quickly applied the finish with a clinical one-two combination, dropping Maccarinelli with the referee calling halt to the contest at the same time the Welshman’s coach Gary Lockett throwed the towel in.

After the fight, the popular Maccarinelli tweeted the following out – suggesting that it was the last time fans would see him in the ring:

Sorry guys felt OK in there then got tagged absolutely devastated I had to end my career like that ?

Whatever comes next, Enzo can be proud of a long and exciting career, full of knockouts and fan friendly displays, as well as being known for being one the most approachable and obliging fighters to fans there is.

If it is to be his final fight, here’s an excellent tribute to the big hitting Welshman from the folks at haNZAgod:
