During the week the boxing world was rocked by the news of the passing of Muhammad Ali, the global boxing community was also pay tribute to some of it’s other greats this weekend at the 2016 International Boxing Hall of Fame.
The annual ceremony will take place in Canastota, New York and will be hosted by In This Corner’s James ‘Smitty’ Smith.
The prestigious class of 2016 will include the following new inductees:
- Puerto Rico’s Hector ‘Macho’ Camacho
- Mexico’s Lupe Pintor
- Panama’s Hilario Zapata
- Boxing judge Harold Lederman
- Commissioner Marc Ratner
- Journalist Jerry Izenberg
- Broadcaster Col.Bob Sheridan
The opening bell for this year’s Hall of Fame will be sounded today, with the following being the full schedule for this week and weekend:
One inductee in this year’s honors, Herold Lederman, spoke this week on ESPN Radio about being inducted into the prestigious group – but also paid tribute to Muhammad Ali following his passing last weekend:
