Kimbo Slice Dies Aged 42

Kimbo Slice real name Kevin Ferguson gained a mass cult following initially from his YouTube street fights that frequently ended in knockouts.

Kimbo Slice has died at the young age of 42 it emerged on Monday, after his mixed martial arts promotional company Bellator confirmed the sad news.

There was no cause of death given at the time, but it has been reported that no foul play was suspected and that the death was been treated as a medical incident.

As a young aspiring boxing writer and all round fight fans of different combat sports growing up, I can remember first watching some of Kimbo’s YouTube street fight knockouts when I was back in college in Ireland.

Even then, I can remember the videos causing a massive worldwide sensation online and they perhaps embody the acceleration of the internet driven generation for millenials that we now live in.

Kimbo then of course went on to compete in the UFC, the Ultimate Fighter series and most recently the Bellator promotion, but he also a established a brief, but undefeated run in professional boxing where he built up a record of 7-0 (6KO) between 2011 and 2013.

Everyone at Boxing News and Views would like to pass on their deepest condolences to Kevin Ferguson’s family and friends at this time.
