Why Ali Hollywood Star Is On The Wall Not The Floor

It says a lot about how a great a man he really was.

Ali transcended boxing, that much is clear. He broke cultural ground that few atheltes ever do with his charisma, intelligence and incredible personality.

In the US the Hollywood star walk of fame is as famous as any landmark in LA, and back in 2002 Muhammad Ali had his name placed on the iconic venue.

But not how you might think.

Usually, the stars are put on the pavement on the Hoolywood Walk of Fame but Muhammad Ali didn’t want this as he felt that people that did not respect him could potentially walk over his name, when at the time he mentioned:

“I bear the name of our beloved Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and it is impossible that I allow people to trample over his name.”

The star was then placed instead on the wall outside the Kodak Theater entertainment complex in Hollywood.

Tributes to the great man have been flooding in all day on social media from people all over the world. Here’s one of the better highlight videos we’ve come across so far today (credit: Save The Dino YouTube):
