Eddie Hearn: If GGG vs Eubank Jr Can Be Made For Sept or Oct Then Team Eubank Ready To Sign

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has said that a Golovkin vs Eubank Jr fight will be something he’ll be pursuing now that he is promoting the middleweight contender again.

Eubank Jr will face Tom Doran in a British title defense first on June 25th in London, but it appears team Eubank are relentlessly pursuing a Gennady Golovkin showdown according to promoter Eddie Hearn.

Speaking to Kugan Cassius of IFL TV, Hearn said:

“They want Golovkin. Whether I think that’s right or wrong, they want it and that’s my instructions. Chris Sr tries to dangle that carrot in front of me saying: ‘If you can deliver this you’ve got my son for the career.’ But I do all I can and if that fight can be made for September, October, they are ready to sign.”

Currently Golovkin is locked in negotiations with Canelo Alvarez but should the fight not become a reality for whatever reason, Eubank Jr among other names like WBO belt holder Billy Joe Saunders, and a few others, have also been mentioned as possible opponents for the middleweight knockout artist.

Recently Eubank Jr’s father Chris Sr appeared on television speaking passionately about how he thinks his son will beat Golovkin if they meet in the ring.
