Watch: Mayweather Confirms He Thinks McGregor Fight Will Happen

It started out as a rumour, but now, it is starting to look like a reality.

A Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor boxing match idea came out of left field recently, with many within both sports claiming that such a bout would not be realistic.

McGregor, who is a mixed martial artist within the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) is under contract with the organisation, but it appears that talks with former boxing pound for pound great Floyd Mayweather are now at an advanced stage for a potential opportunity to see him fight under boxing rules.

Hall of Fame boxing trainer Freddie Roach recently confirmed that McGregor had approached him for boxing training and it looks like the wheels are now in motion for what if anything, at the very least, promises to be one all mighty social media frenzy among fans of both men, and indeed both sports (boxing and mixed martial arts).

Both fighters have established renowned reputations for their outside the ring / octagon marketing abilities, when it comes to the promotion side of things, and a fight between the two would likely make headlines for some time to come.

Here’s Floyd Mayweather himself speaking to Showtime about the fight:
