Tony ‘Bomber’ Bellew is readying himself for his third tilt at a world title on May 29th when he takes on Ilunga Makabu at Goodison Park.
The fight will be for the vacant WBC cruiserweight title and with Bellew being a life long Everton Football Club fan, will take place at his dream venue at the club’s stadium in his native Liverpool.
Makabu might not be known to some boxing fans but make no mistake, he is an extremely difficult proposition for a world title challenge for anyone at cruiserweight.
This has been reflected with a lot of bookmakers making Bellew a 2/1 underdog a few weeks out from the fight as things stand.
Tony is in confident mood however, and touched on a number of subjects at this week’s press conference with Boxing News and Views’ Stewart Lawrence:
