Carl Frampton vs Leo Santa Cruz Confirmed

A mouthwatering prospect of a fight between two undefeated world champions.

Carl Frampton vs Leo Santa Cruz has long been muttered as a potential fight, but now, it will become much more than potential and rather a reality this summer for eager fight fans.

Carl Frampton’s manager and legendary former boxer Barry McGuigan – broke the news to the delight of many boxing enthusiasts:

We have reached an agreement for @RealCFrampton to face @leosantacruz2 in late summer in NYC. Details to follow next week #monsterfight

With the official announcement to follow next week, we can just speculate at this point as to what weight division and venue the fight will be at, however many believe the bout will see Frampton finally moving up to the featherweight limit after perhaps physically outgrowing the weight making process at 122lbs.

If this is the case, it would be likely ‘The Jackal’ would relinquish his current IBF and WBA straps at super-bantamweight and instead would be challenging for Santa Cruz’s WBA (Super) featherweight belt.

Frampton last boxed when he captured the WBA 122lbs title on points from Scott Quigg on February 27th, while Santa Cruz’s last outing came on the very same night when he stopped former Frampton foe Kiko Martinez inside the distance in California.
