A potential world welterweight title fight that would arguably pit the current division’s two most clinical finishers against one another.

Undefeated American southpaw sensation Errol Spence Jr continued his rich run of form this weekend gone, with a five round blitzing over a man who had previously never been stopped in his pro career – Chris Algieri.
On the same weekend talks emanated from the UK relating to a man in the same welterweight shark pool, the IBF champion Kell Brook that is, in terms of talks breaking down relating to a possible Miguel Cotto fight for him this summer:
Brook’s promoter above Eddie Hearn appears to have a couple of options for his charge at present, with the main one being the longed for big money fight against fellow countryman Amir Khan, dependent on how the Englishman fairs in his upcoming WBC middleweight showdown with Canelo Alvarez and on what he decides to do after – win or lose.
Brook last fought in March just gone against Kevin Bizier, a Canadian whom he made light work of and fans of Brook (36-0-25KO) are calling for a proper test in their droves for the physically gifted 147lbs titlist.
Sheffield man Brook won his title in emphatic fashion a couple of years back against American Shawn Porter and after dealing with outside the ring issues bravely (notably surviving an attempt on his life in a stabbing), big fights are what people want to see ‘Special K’ in from here on out.

If the Khan fight can’t get made anytime soon and with the likes of Keith Thurman and Shawn Porter tied up with a fight against each other, and if a matchup against Tim Bradley or Manny Pacquiao also can’t get made this summer, then a Brook title defense against Spence Jr would surely result in guaranteed fireworks for both US and British fight fans.
It would appear Brook’s handlers are warm to a possible fight, particularly so if Spence Jr becomes mandatory challenger for Brook – as promoter Eddie Hearn so eloquently phrased it on Twitter:
Brook (age 29) and Spence Jr (age 26) are arguably two of the most skilled fighters in the world at welterweight at the moment, considering Mayweather’s retirement.
Certainly two of the most explosive finishers and with both protagonists being in the prime of their careers and still undefeated, I just can’t help but think the fight would have everything.
For the boxing purists, two men who possess wonderful timing, punch variation, counter punching and foot work, and for the knockout lover – two boxers who hit as hard and cleanly as anyone at the moment in the welterweight division.
Considering the fact the Spence Jr is currently managed by Premier Boxing Champions head honcho Al Haymon, and the fact that Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn enjoys an already amicable relationship with Haymon, one would think the fight would not be too difficult to make, either.
Of course the likes of Jessie Vargas and Danny Garcia are also in the welterweight mix and possible foes down the line for both Brook and Spence Jr, but I feel a Kell Brook vs Errol Spence Jr fight would be the one that would satiate even the most cynical of sweet science lovers.
Surely a storm of boxing skill and heavy hands waiting to happen.
After dismantling Chris Algieri and bringing his record to 20-0-17KO, Errol Spence Jr certainly appears to be willing to take on the division’s best – on his part:
