Canelo Alvarez and Amir Khan’s showdown at Las Vegas’ newly constructed T-Mobile Arena is quickly approaching and pre-fight debate is well underway.

The fight for Canelo’s WBC middleweight title will take place next month on May 7th, with the young Mexican champion starting as a warm favourite with most bookmakers.
However the closer the fight gets, as is the usual custom I’ve found with most big fights in boxing, fans and punters alike start to look to the underdog for more value on a bet – or just because people love routing for the underdog.
In recent weeks Amir Khan has bulked up considerably for his multi-weight division jump to face Canelo, but it would seem from recent interviews and press appearances that the Englishman is still planning on utilizing his speed as his main advantage in the fight.
Whether it will be the same with the additional weight and bulk, time will tell.
As Doug Fischer of The Ring succinctly points out in the below video, Canelo has had problems in the past with fighters who move on him – when Fischer refers to Canelo not having things all his own way with Miguel Cotto for example (not forgetting Floyd Mayweather’s comprehensive dismantling of Canelo too).
Khan certainly should have more mobility and speed about him than Cotto, but the big fear most will have for him is, can he stay out of the way of Canelo’s power for the full twelve rounds to win a decision?
