David Haye Next Opponent Announced For May 21st

David Haye’s next opponent will come against Arnold ‘The Cobra’ Glergjaj (29-0-21KO) from Switzerland.

On January 16th, David Haye made his comeback to the ring for his first fight in more than three and a half years, in a fight that last just 121 seconds when he knocked out New Zealand’s Mark de Mori.

Despite his extended hiatus, Haye sold more than 16,000 tickets at the O2 Arena in London on the night, and now he goes back to the same venue on May 21st in what is being billed as ‘Hayeday II’.

Glergjaj might not be known to that many fight fans, but his record is decent in that he has remained unbeaten for so long, and has scalped a few unbeaten fighters on his way to building the record. Haye mentioned that he chose Glergjaj for his size to get him used to: “punching up again.”

Haye has said that 10% of all ticket sales made on the night will go towards recently injured middleweight Nick Blackwell.

No TV announcement has been made for where the fight will be broadcast as of yet, but his last fight was broadcast free to air on Channel Dave back in January – which drew a whopping 3 million plus TV viewers. The unndercard for the May 21st will be handled by Goodwin Promotions.

Here is Haye’s team’s YouTube video released this morning to announce the fight:
