A fantastic heavyweight took place in the Colosseum Sport Hall, Grozny, Russia, where Lucas Browne (24-0-21KO) ripped the WBA title away from Ruslan Chagaev.

The bout started out in the favour of Chagaev who was boxing well early doors, who opened up a cut on Browne in the early rounds.

The Ricky Hatton promoted Browne showed incredible recovery skills in round 6, when he took a brutal body punch from Chagaev, followed by a massive shot over the top that decked him.

Lucas came firing back in the seventh with some huge uppercuts but as the fight went into the ninth and tenth rounds, it looked like Chagaev was coming on again, until a big turn of events saw Browne drop Chagaev who was badly hurt, but got back to his feet.

Browne seized the opportunity to finish the fight however – jumping all over Chagaev and unloading big right hands to prompt the referee to waive off the contest.

From working on a door to becoming WBA heavyweight champion of the world, and becoming Australia’s first heavyweight champion of the world, Lucas Browne showed enormous heart on route to a massive achievement tonight.
