David Haye Could Be Eligible For Shot At Martin vs Joshua Winner

The IBF have announced their new Heavyweight rankings and interestingly David Haye has moved up to position 13, which makes him available for a voluntary defence against Olympic Gold medalist Anthony Joshua should he beat Charles Martin.

Haye 27-2 (25KO) has only had one fight since his return from retirement against over matched Mark de Mori 30-2-2 (26KO) destroying him in the very 1st round.

Given this short outing came after a three and a half year hiatus from the sport, it is likely Haye would need to take a fight with a ranked contender before going into a big pay per view fight in 2016.

With the WBA (a belt Haye formerly held) holding its heavyweight tournament at the moment, all of the major players look currently engaged for the time being.

Haye has been rumoured to fight Shannon Briggs with a date tentatively penciled in for the 21st May at the O2 arena London, according to the latest boxing rumour mill.

Now however with the IBF route a viable option to a big all British showdown, it looks like should they both come through their fights unscathed next, a super fight at Wembley stadium could be on the cards for Haye and Joshua later in the summer.
