The slick, powerful operator from Nebraska was in good form in New York last night as he defended his WBO super-lightweight crown with a 5th round stoppage win over Henry ‘Hank’ Lundy, however he didn’t have it all his own way at Madison Square Garden.

The 28 year old Crawford found Lundy’s unorthodox attacks awkward in the opening round, prompting him to go southpaw and re-adjust his game plan to close the distance better on his Philadelphia counterpart.

Crawford showed that he could readjust when faced with a difficult style in the fight, which adds another string to his already talented boxing bow.

Lundy did his own southpaw switch in the fourth round, but Crawford’s jab was working well by this point, along with some sharp left hands.

The 5th round saw Crawford hurt Lundy badly with one of these left hands, dropping him for a count of 8, only for Lundy to get back to his feet and be met with a Crawford looking for a conclusive finish, which he did by unleashing a ferocious amount of combinations with Lundy backed up in the corner, forcing the referee to call of the fight.

Crawford improves his record to 28-0 (20KO) with the win. In case you missed the action, here’s the main highlights via the HBO YouTube channel:
