Today’s final press conference between super bantamweight champions Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg saw an explosion of tension unfolding during the final stare off.
During the stare off, IBF champion Frampton could be seen putting his hand on Quigg’s belt which eventually lead to Quigg pushing his Belfast rival, then prompting some shoving and some very heated use of language from Frampton towards Quigg’s promoter, Eddie Hearn.
It never looked in danger of erupting into a full on punch up, but Frampton made it very clear in no uncertain terms to Hearn not to ever put his hands on him again.
Some other strong words can be picked up in IFL TV’s video of the face off below, ahead of what is likely to be one of the best fights in British and Irish boxing for many, many a year.
Carl Frampton to Eddie Hearn: “Get your f*****g hands off me!”
In conclusion looking back on the event now, after it happened, it was Carl Frampton who got the last laugh in the end.
The ‘Jackal’ won a comfortable points decision in the end - breaking Quigg’s jaw in the process and ending a bitter long rivalry that had been simmering for years between the two camps.
