Roger ‘The Black Mamba’ Mayweather besides been world champion in his own right during his boxing career, is probably most well known for his training of his nephew Floyd Mayweather.

Roger, an often outspoken commentator on the sport, regularly has opinions on big fights and predictions that go under the radar a tad, but in this writer’s experience, he can often be bang on the money with them.

Canelo Alvarez and Amir Khan will square off on May 7th in Las Vegas in what will see the UK’s Khan jump up multiple weight categories to do so, a move that many people within the sport have flat out said will be his brutal undoing.

However, some analysts are also quick to point out that Khan with the speed his possess might try to opt for similar Floyd Mayweather style tactics against Canelo when the two fought back in 2013, where Mayweather comprehensively shut Canelo out on points over 12 rounds.

It would seem Roger Mayweather is of a similar belief, although he expects it to be a tough challenge for Khan he told ES News this week:

“I think it’s going to be a close fight, because both of them probably are evenly skilled, but Canelo won’t be no easy fight for him.”

He added:

“I think that he (Khan) can probably outbox Canelo, but I don’t think it will be an easy fight one way or another.”
