Heavyweight Nick Webb Goes 4-0 Via Demolition Job KO in Brighton
Nick Webb continued his march through the heavyweight rankings by demolishing Bulgarian opponent, Angel Angelov in just 26 seconds at the Brighton Metropole on February 12th.
The 28-year-old from Chertsey blasted through his opposition in devastating fashion, requiring just three punches to put him out of the scheduled four three-minute rounds contest.
Webb immediately crossed the ring from the opening bell, lining up Angelov with his left, judging the distance to throw a huge overhand right that missed the intended target, a follow up jab landed, followed up swiftly with a huge right hook to the head and then body – the offending shot that crashed his counterpart to the canvas.
Bravely, Angelov rose to his feet albeit in visible distress only for referee Robert Webb to call it an early night.
The decision was correct as Angelov quickly took to his corner seat still wincing from the pain. He could be still seen grimacing as he exited the arena five minutes later to a respectful applause from the home crowd.
Webb moved up to 4-0 while Angelov dropped to 2-3 and leaving the venue with a losing record for the first time in his career.
Webb, who can now boast four first round finishes, said before the fight that getting rid of his foe in a quicker time than the current Southern Area champion, Dominic Akinlade would send a message to the crowd ranked above him.
He certainly made a statement and now has the Southern Area title within his sights.
