Mike Tyson Sings Big Praises Of Tyson Fury

‘Iron Mike’ once ruled the heavyweight division with an iron fist, and has had some very encouraging words for the division’s new champion – Tyson Fury.

Despite been stripped of his IBF heavyweight title shortly after winning it, Fury still holds the the WBA (super), WBO and IBO titles, and is universally recognized as the number one heavyweight in the world by the vast majority, having beaten the main man who reigned on top of the division for 11 years previously (Wladimir Klitshcko).

Fury has come in for some criticism in some quarters since his monumental win in Germany last November, however boxing legend Mike Tyson has passionately stepped into Fury’s corner and come to his defense.

The American heavyweight great had some fine words to say on the new champion, as reported by the guys at EuroSport UK:

“The heavyweight champion of the world got my name. He is the best heavyweight champion of the world since myself. He is the man, I don’t care what anybody says.”

Big praise from such a legendary warrior of the sport indeed, and words that put into context just how big an achievement dethroning Wladimir Klitshcko was back in November.

Tyson Fury is due to rematch Klitschko as part of a contractual obligation later this year. However, no concrete date or venue has been announced for the rematch as of yet, but April or May has been mentioned – along with the bout potentially taking place in the UK this time round.
