Watch: Anthony Joshua Has A Strong Message For Fury And Wilder

Coming off a big domestic win over UK heavyweight rival Dillian Whyte recently, Anthony Joshua knows that he is still a bit off from challenging for world honours from the likes of WBC champion Deontay Wilder or WBA, WBO and IBF titlist Tyson Fury, but when he does get to world level, he had a firm warning for the two.

Joshua’s next fight is expected in April 2016 with an as of yet unnamed opponent, however Dereck Chisora was one name mentioned in various quarters recently that potentially could be a domestic fight which would sell given Chisora’s established name in boxing, and recent mini-resurgence that has seen him rattle off four wins in a row in 2015.

Despite this Joshua has poured cold water over such a match up, for the time being at least. Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports the Olympic Gold medalist and currently undefeated heavyweight in the pro ranks (15-0, 15KO) said:

“There’s nothing wrong with fighting Dereck Chisora, but I don’t think that’s the route we will be going. I think we’ll go down the European route.”

When Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury’s name came up, ‘AJ’ said he’s not currently looking at them in the immediate future, but had a stern warning for both men for when he does reach their level on the world scene:

“Not currently no, I’ll take my time, bide my time, watch the division alight, me continue working. I’m a work in progress, developing, once I get a crack at these boys they best run scared because once I come – I’m coming with force.”
