It was seen as a close fight going into the contest, but not many expected the dominance exerted from the 36 year old Cuban Ortiz the unfolded, who despite suffering with a brief illness before the matchup, looked very impressive – battering Jennings in parts before the grand finale.
The finish came in the 7th round, first set up by an absolutely sickening uppercut that sent Jennings face first to the canvas.
He somehow managed to make it back to his feet, but the writing was on the wall at this stage, and Ortiz applied the finishing touches that prompted the referee to wave off the fight.
