Today at a press conference held ahead of Feb 13th’s World lightweight title fight between Terry Flanagan and Derry Mathews, promoter Frank Warren tabled an exciting proposal publicly and on Twitter, regarding a potential all British unification showdown with the winner against current rival promoter Matchroom’s titlist, the newly crowned WBA champion from Manchester – Anthony Crolla.

Here’s the tweet from Frank Warren:

What was also interestingly pointed out by journalist Steve Lillis today, was that the offer also included an option for things to go to sealed purse bids too:

Today’s press conference in Liverpool in it’s own right was in promotion of a fantastic fight of course between Flanagan and Mathews of course, but with the added carrot dangling of a potential Crolla fight in 2016 for the winner, the poker stakes have just been upped a notch.

It will be interesting to see Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport’s response in the coming days.
