The unbeaten former Olympian, who tipped the scales at 66.4 kgs, been told that a trip to England could on the cards providing he does the business once again. Manager Matt Clark has revealed:

“We’ve also received confirmation from the Commonwealth Boxing Council that Cameron has been confirmed at mandatory challenger for the winner of the proposed Sam Eggington vs Frankie Gavin bout. The winner will have to defend against Cameron or be stripped. We hope they don’t do that as Cameron has wanted to box in England again since he went to the London Olympics, but we’re ready for anyone.

He went on to add:

“The Commonwealth belt is one of the most historic in boxing and Cameron’s definitely excited about the opportunity. Australia hasn’t had a Commonwealth champion at welterweight since Julian Holland beat Shannan Taylor back in 2001 and it would be fantastic to see that belt Down Under again.”

Clark concluded:

“Firstly, though, Cameron has to take care of business against Coral, who I believe is best opponent so far and hasn’t flown into Melbourne for the fun of it. He’s come to give Cameron the fight of his life.”

Hammond v Coral is held over eight rounds and forms part of the massive Mundine v Hartley undercard at the Convention and Exhibition Centre.
