It was a heavyweight contest that had a surprise knockdown near the end, but the fight ultimately went the distance in comfortable fashion for Malik Scott.

A 44 year old Tony Thompson who’s enjoyed some resurgent form in his older years, finally got old over night it could be said.
His younger foe Malik Scott for the most part of the fight was able to use his superior foot speed, athleticism and boxing ability to stay on the outside and comfortably score points, besides one or two decent spells for Thompson in round four and six.
The real surprise however, came in round nine, when Thompson was finally able to get in range on Scott and get off a well timed uppercut, to which southpaw Thompson followed up with a right hook that dropped Scott.
Scott beat the count however, and made it through ultimately to the final bell and won a ten round unanimous points decision.
Scott who has lost twice in the past to Dereck Chisora and Deontay Wilder moves on to a potential opportunity at getting himself back into the mix of the fringes of the top ten in the heavyweight division.
