His opponent Brian Viloria, was arguably the best of his career to date and without doubt came to fight – with little respect shown to Gonzalez.

This was conveyed right from the get go, with Viloria applying pressure early and even having some success, only to be out gunned and out foxed by the ultra talented Gonzalez.

By the third round Gonzalez had Viloria on the canvas via a chopping right hand, and although Viloria got up and fought on hard, Gonzalez knew he could hurt him.

This spelled a painful ensuing number of rounds for Viloria, who fought valiantly through a barrage of lightning fast combinations and inside assaults.

Viloria did have some decent success to the body of Gonzalez in the mid rounds at times, but nonetheless, Gonzalez never really seemed to be deterred and marched through the challenger relentlessly.

The finish came just before the end of the ninth round, when Gonzalez unleashed a furious attack that had Viloria in no position to defend himself, that rightly caused the referee to call a halt to proceedings.

Gonzalez now moves to 43-0 (38KO) and extends his knockout streak to ten on the trot, dating back a number of years now.
