Undefeated Mancunian and WBO lightweight champion of the world Terry Flanagan put on a concussive show for his hometown fans last night
The Manchester native left little doubt regarding his world title credentials last night at the Manchester Arena, when he put an unmerciful beat-down on American southpaw challenger Diego Magdaleno.
The Californian native never really had a chance to get into the fight, and looked a class below Flannagan straight off the bat.
The end came quickly and ruthlessly for the travelling American, who was sent crashing to the canvas three times as early as the second round.
The third knockdown was the result of a vicious uppercut that really did the damage. Even though the challenger bravely rose to his feet he was met by more of the same punishment, prompting the referee to call off the fight.
The emphatic display by Flanagan gives him his first defense of his world title, and will silence many critics who questioned the legitimacy of his world title path prior to last night.
The undefeated 26 year old southpaw progresses to 29-0 (12KO) with big fights now on the horizon.
