Last night proved to be an action filled night Stateside in the latest installment of Premier Boxing Champions, with the Gabriel Bracero vs Danny O’Connor welterweight fight producing a sensational knock out in the very first round in Massachusetts, USA.
Going into the fight, local southpaw O’Connor came into the bout as a favorite – but New Yorker Bracero clearly had other plans.
Incredibly, just 41 seconds into the very first found, O’Connor lunged in with a straight left with his feet out of position, to allow Bracero to counter launch what can only be described as a type of nuclear misile right hand over the top, exploding square on the chin of O’Connor – leaving no need for a count from the referee.
That’s all she wrote, as they say. Straight away, many pointed to the punch being a potential knockout of the year contender for 2015.
Bracero was not particularly known for his power going into the fight (now moves to 24-2, 5KO), but the perfect timing of what occurred last night acted as a savage reminder that one punch can end it all in the squared circle, in the blink of an eye.
Here’s the punch that was heard all around the world:
