If you’re a fan of Lucas Matthysse, last Saturday might have come as a bit of a shock.

Lucas Matthysse is an Argentinian warrior renowned for his knock out power and granite toughness in equal measure, but going into last weekend’s showdown with Victor Postol from the Ukraine, the Easter European Postol didn’t care too much for this particular reputation.
Going into the fight, Postol was considered an underdog, but his tenacity and boxing ability proved to be too much in the end for the explosive Matthysse.
He extended his unbeaten run in the pro ranks to 28-0 (12KO) via a stunning 10th round KO of Matthysse, on route to capturing the vacant WBC super lightweight (light-welterweight) title on Saturday at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
The big hitting Matthysse moves back to 37-4 (34KO) after putting three wins on the trot together prior to Saturday’s bout, but will now have to go back to the drawing board and take stock once again.
