Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg Fight Announcement Could Be Close

It’s a fight that Irish, UK and indeed world boxing fans have been longing for well over a year now. Eddie Hearn has revealed today on Sky Sports that positive talks are ongoing and that “problems are getting solved” in the negotiations.

Hearn went on to mention that if the fight negotiations were a horse race, that “60% of hurdles have been jumped but are not in the home stretch yet.”

Previously it had been widely circulated that the main stumbling block to making the fight surrounded the financial split of the purse.

It appears that Matchroom Sport (Quigg’s promoters) have now moved on their position according to recent interviews with Hearn (Matchroom boss), hoping that Frampton’s handlers may now also opt to do so, in a bid to get one of the most eagerly anticipated smaller weight fights in years, finally over the finishing line.

Talk of the fight directly on social media between the fighters and camps has gone very quite from a public perspective, which from experience in covering boxing, can often be a good thing and sometimes means negotiations are getting close to being concluded.

Whether or not the fight will be made for this year remains to be seen, but even an announcement of an agreement reached for the fight to take place in 2016 – would satisfy many a frustrated fight fan.

Fingers, toes and everything else crossed on this one.
