Outright Betting
The bookmakers certainly seem to make Anthony Joshua a warm favourite early doors, reflected in various prices in the outright markets.
However as we all know, heavyweight boxing can be turned on it’s head in one punch, with many a prospect and favourite been upset down through the years as a result of one solid single punch.
Simply put, anything can happen when these big men throw down.
From a value perspective, the boxing skeptic may think to himself, Anthony Joshua’s chin has not been exactly tested yet and if someone that hits as hard as Whyte connects then, 10/1 currently been offered by some bookmakers could certainly be worth a cheeky fiver or tenner.

However the smart money early on appears to lie in the fight ending within the distance by a knockout or technical knockout. The value doesn’t appear to be there quite yet, but expect more movement on this nearer to the fight.
Currently, Paddy Power are giving out odds as slim as 1/9 for Joshua to close the show inside the distance, a stark statistic for his old amateur rival.

Interestingly, Betfair (at the moment) are pricing Whyte to take Joshua out in every round between 1-9 at 17/2.
This could indicate a bit of initial uncertainty and also reflect the fact that Whyte has a very live puncher’s chance in the contest.
These are all early speculation odds of course and expect them to move quite a bit between here and the fight. One things for sure, this heavyweight rumble promises ample action whether it goes the full distance or not.
