The sledgehammer fists of UK heavyweight Anthony Joshua continued their trail of destruction last night.

‘AJ’ moved to 14-0 (14KO) with a swift pummeling of previously unbeaten Scotsman Cary Cornish at the O2 in London, to capture the vacant Commonwealth heavyweight title and WBC international heavyweight title.

Right from the beginning, Joshua looked very composed and relaxed – almost like he didn’t have a care in the world. You could see incremental improvements to his timing and distance, which looking to be getting sharper all the time.

Cornish came out swinging with some wild hooks that Joshua easily stepped out of range to avoid and not long into the first round, had Cornish down with a right hand counter that shook the man from Scotland to his boots.

Joint maker (by trade) Cornish beat the count but was clearly still rocked, and Joshua obliged with a methodical follow up assault that proved too much for Cornish, who once again found himself on the floor.

He rose to wobbly feet and the referee had seen enough – 1 minute and 37 seconds in the very first round.

Next up for Joshua will be long time rival Dillian Whyte, which will be for the British title. Whyte also continued his undefeated streak on the night with a third round stoppage win over Brian Minto.

Here’s the merciless 97 seconds it took for Joshua to destroy his latest victim last night:
