Juergen Braehmer retains WBA title with TKO

The German light-heavyweight champion was convincing again last night in Dresden, Germany.

WBA ‘Regular’ 175lbs titlist Juergen Braehmer put in a good night’s work last night, when he clocked in a 7th round stoppage victory over Konni Konrad, who was out of his depth in truth.

The champion dictated the pace right from the get go, never looking in any real danger. He controlled the tempo of the bout and in the sixth round, dropped Konrad, who recovered well it appeared and was not seriously hurt.

However, Braehmer turned up the heat again in the next round, at which point Konrad’s corner had seen enough and pulled their man out.

Braehmer moves to 47-2-35KO and looks to be back to the form that saw him break onto the world scene initially a few years back, and at this point, is riding the crest of a very impressive 15 fight win streak. It would be nice to see him fight some of the best in the division now at this point.

Options out there are a plenty for what’s next, with the two kingpins of the division in Sergey Kovalev and Adonis Stevenson obvious targets for the hard hitting German.

Another possibility however, could be a potential fight with Welshman Nathan Cleverly who was due to fight the German a few years back, before a late pull our from Braehmer at the time.

With Cleverly apparently returning to 175lbs, it might be another option for the German at some point.
