Disturbing reports have emerged that one time heavyweight title challenger and contender Manuel Charr has been shot during an altercation in Germany.

According to latest reports, it is understood that heavyweight boxer Manuel Charr suffered the attack by an assailant during an altercation outside a kebab shop in Essen, Germany.

It has also been reported that there is currently a man hunt underway for the attacker and thankfully it is understood that Charr is not in any life threatening danger, after undergoing surgery following the attack.

Charr is perhaps remembered best by many, for his previously unsuccessful attempts at trying to capture the world heavyweight title to Vitali Klitschko in 2012 and Alexander Povetkin back in 2014.

He also pulled a notable call out type stunt at a David Haye press conference a number of years ago, following Haye’s win to capture the WBA heavyweight title in Germany at the time.

Manuel Charr has unfortunately fallen out of contention in recent years and only recently suffered a crushing KO defeat. This latest tragic news will no doubt sadden many of his fans.

Everyone at Boxing News and Views would like to pass on our sympathies to Charr and his family at this time and wish him a speedy recovery.
