Build-up begins as Klitschko and Fury face off
Tyson Fury told Wladimir Klitschko that he wants to break his face in and that the whole of Europe craves a new heavyweight champion today ahead of their October 24th fight in Dusselforf, Germany.
The press conference commenced with warm smiles and respectful handshakes. Fury appeared surprisingly tame but it wasn’t long before he was up to his old antics.
“You have about as much charisma as my underpants” Fury suggested to a composed Klitschko.
“There has never been anyone like me before in history and a fighter like me only comes along every 1000 years” boasted Fury who labelled the heavyweight champion “old” and “boring”.
Klitschko, WBA, IBF and WBO champion, didn’t look offended by Fury’s jibes. He said: “I believe that Tyson Fury is really meaning what he’s talking about and he’s definitely not coming here just to be present. He came here to win the championship fight.”
Fury entertained as he always does. He wasn’t quite as outspoken as he has been in the past and even recognised Klitschko’s achievements in boxing.
But with the fight three months away there is plenty of time for Fury to try and disrupt his opponent.
The Manchester boxer of Irish descent is 26 years old and unbeaten. Defeating Klitschko would change his life forever and the Ukrainian will be doing his best to ensure his legacy remains intact.
