Another short night for “Mundo”. The young Liverpudlian boxer’s power and skills continues to improve.

Callum Smith extended his record in Birmingham tonight to 17-0 (13 KO) with a very short night’s work, that saw him smash Latvian Oleg Fedotovs inside one round.

Smith got off the mark straight away with a massive right hand, down the middle, which caught Fedotovs on the forehead and sent him crashing backwards onto the ropes and then onto the ground.

He rose to unsteady legs and was met with more clean straight, powerful combinations, which prompted the referee to mercifully wave off the contest.

Fedotovs had previously taken Rocky Fielding the distance over 8 rounds and had a reputation for being durable.

Not the case tonight however.

Smith looked very fresh and sharp from the get go having recovered from a frustrating hand injury recently.

Next up will be a much sterner test in the summer, in the form of Frenchman Christopher Rebrasse, who many will remember took George Groves the distance last year in a competitive encounter.

The fight will be for the vacant WBC super middleweight title and a win for Smith would likely put him in a great position to make a claim at being the mandatory contender for the WBC title before the year is out.

Exciting times ahead for the big hitting, 25 year old Scouser.
