Jack Stuns Dirrell To Win WBC Super-Middleweight Title

Last night saw a new champion unveiled in the red hot 168 lbs weight class, when Swedish Badou “The Ripper” Jack shocked the world when by dethroning former WBC champ Anthony Dirrell over the distance.
Jack brought the fight to Dirrell from the get go and showed the champion (who was renowned for his teak toughness) that he wasn’t afraid to mix it with him.
He outworked Dirrell for the majority of the fight with terrific inside boxing and a very impressive engine.
Dirrell tired as the fight progressed and Jack closed the show impressively down the stretch, which was enough to get the Gambian-Swedish based man the majority decision.
The final scorecards read 114-114, 115-113, and 116-112 in favor of Jack.
This will set up a big showdown with mandatory contender George Groves from the UK, which you’d have to think will happen at some point before the end of the summer.
Jack, who is promoted by Mayweather Promotions, progressed his record to 19-1-1 (12 KO).
Jacobs vs Truax
The under card saw the amazing story of WBA middleweight world champion Danny “Miracle Man” Jacobs continue, when he stopped a very game Caleb Truax in the closing stages of a one side affair.
Jacobs was able to control the majority of the fight relatively easily with his superior skills, but Truax showed how gritty he was to take the beating that was been dished out on him, round after round.
With a broken nose and having been wobbled in the middle of the fight, Jacobs took Truax out in the 12th after forcing a standing eight count following a heavy flurry that saw Truax on the ropes.
He the proceeded to close the show with a relentless onslaught of combinations that prompted the ref to wave halt to the action before the final bell.
Jacobs’ story is quite inspirational, in that the Brooklyn man only four years ago overcame a nearly deadly battle with cancer.
The fact he was able to resume a professional sports career like boxing alone was astonishing, but to go on and become champion of the world and defend his title in such emphatic fashion like he’s done, tells you why his nickname is in fact “Miracle Man”.
