Canelo 2017 Plan Includes Fights With Golovkin, Chavez Jr and Cotto

Canelo Alvarez’ promotional Twitter account released an image in recent days that would get even the most pessimistic of boxing fans excited. The Canelo 2017 campaign could be one for the record books if this comes off.

A Canelo 2017 year that would include fights against the likes of Gennady Golovkin, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and Miguel Cotto would go down as one hell of a 12 month period.

If it happened that is (that would likely see him catapult up these pound for pound rankings, too).

One of those fights at least has been signed so far for next May, when he takes on Chavez Jr in in all Mexican war at the T-Mobile Arena but the plan it would seem after this is to then fight twice more this year.

Canelo 2017 plan:

What a year that would be, although the gap between September and December seems a bit of a short one, but a commendable Canelo 2017 plan overall if true.

He has his hands full in May first off, but the fight with Gennady Golovkin is then the one everyone wants to see this year.

It would likely be the biggest fight that can be made in boxing – alongside Joshua Klitschko so far this year.

Golovkin and Cotto also have their hands full for the time being with Golovkin taking on New Yorker Danny Jacobs next March and Cotto facing James Kirkland next month in Texas.

Not a bad time for the middleweight division, certainly lots to look forward to this year.

Lets take a quick look back why 2016 was such a memorable year for Canelo, that could prove to be a big launchpad for the Canelo 2017 campaign:
